crepes
Wahaha! What a wonderful night it had been! Met up with my friend, Berlinda, and went for dinner. Met her up at Central in Clarke Quay because that place was bursting full of desu-goodness and she liked it a lot. Oh, for people having a knack for desu, I would recommend Central because its chock full of it!
Before that, I was waiting by the Singapore River since she was still on the train and enjoyed the nice view, watching the boats just go by... About 6.45pm, she reached...OH! While waiting, apparently, this caucasian guy 'couple' went up to me and one of them was so close it was like he's trying to hit me up! Whew, thank goodness I went away quickly...was weird though. Met up with her and we decided on where to settle down and have dinner, so in the end, we ate at the Manhattan Fish Market restaurant.
Berlinda got a Pacific Dory Fish and Chips meal while I got myself a Grilled Norwegian Salmon set. The fish is absolutely FANTASTIC! There was none of that awful fishy smell and the texture was soft and succulent! Ambience wise was good except that it could have done a little better without the Chinese New Year decorations. I've already expected the great tasting dishes since we had to queue up for almost 20 minutes just to get into the packed restaurant! 4/5 stars.
During dinner, we engaged ourselves in the topic about government conspiracies, the Zeitgeist movie, Dan Brown's books, religion and of course, the classic "Emo kid and Religious guy" lovestory which is officially now my dinner topic appetizer/dessert. Hahaha. Seems that no matter who I tell the story to, the other party would get very interested! Oh, and finally, someone that enjoys talking about the above topics!
After dinner, we headed down to Dhoby Ghaut and brought her to this nice little French crepe shop that I promised. The cafe itself, called 'Creperie des Arts" was recommended to me by Johnathon, who said he had one of the best dates ever there and I should try it out.
The little French cafe was tucked away in a corner of Prinsep street and tell you, the ambience is fantastic! From what I've known is that the cafe is a business ran by a French family. Almost everything was French; from the chef to the decors and the music, all the way right down to the other customers themselves! The ambience was fantastic with a 'homey' feeling and we had this excellent honey and lemon crepe by a small candlelight. Wow, it almost seemed like a date, lol! *embarrassed*
Oh, speaking of the crepe itself (called 'Mado' by the way), it was lightly toasted with a tinge of golden brown in the middle and got just the right crispiness. Drizzled with lemon juice and honey, the crepe was definitely lip-smacking! Had the right amount of sweetness and yet not too bland. Service was definitely excellent, the chef speaking to us in a French accent and even giving us a seat directly underneath a not-too-cold airconditioner to ensure we had a comfortable dessert. Oh, he even taught us a little bit of French! Now I know "good night" in French is "bonne nuit"! Hahah 5/5 stars! (Wishes for more cafes in Singapore like this. Authentic, not fake.)
Two pics from the trip itself. (Credits to Berlinda for taking em)
Edit: Damn, I should've taken a few shots of the food themselves. Nevermind, since I will be having a few more food outings in the future, I will definitely provide them!
