Cerebriteh Brogs.
Was talking to one of my friends on MSN today and discussing/gossiping about our local celebrities such as whether if they were LGBT and who won the 2009 Star Awards etc etc. Apparently, some celebrities got blogs! I stumbled upon Dasmond Koh's (one of our local TV hosts) while Google Image searching his picture since I didn't recognise his English name....From Dasmond's blog, I linked into Joshua Ang's, Daren Tan, Quan Yifeng, Bryan Wong etc etc.
One word to describe the celebrities' blogs. Commercialised.
Everything from most of the .com registered website to the posts itself, you could tell that it was scripted! One of the posts from Joshua Ang's blog included a short excerpt from an interview in the magazine, iWeekly. Apparently, he mentioned at the end of the post to tell readers to buy the magazine in order to read the full happening. It was like the marketing dept of iWeekly telling Joshua, "Uh Joshua, could you submit a post to your blog regarding the recent interview we conducted with you? We need a bit of publicity to boost our magazine readership. Thanks!"
It was so unnatural! Also, I never seen anyone blog with so many short sentences and periods in a single post! Let me give you a short paragraph from Joshua's blog,
"Yup, if u guys have read my random replies to those who have commented. You might have figured that I’m learning bike now. It wasn’t exactly what i always wanted to do because i know it’s dangerous. But after seeing my friend’s Harley Davidsons™, i knew i just had to get one, someday. :) HAHA!! Nay, i was just kidding."
Actually, to add to the hilarity, I shall summarize that paragraph even MORE!
"Read my random comments? I'm learning bike. Dangerous. Inspired by friend. Must get one. Kidding."
Jeez! It was as if he wrote the whole post in English peppered with Singlish, went through the Editors in Marketing or People Relations and then came out all plastic. Joshua also seem to have a fondness for adding a "Trademark (tm)" sign on every single title of his blog's entries.
The most original blog I came across by an ex-celebrity was Sharon Au's and the current celebrity, Quan Yifong's. Sharon's blog was just amazing.... the fact that she posted her entries quad-linguistically; French, Japanese (Desu), English and Chinese! She seemed superhuman to grasp the ability of being quad-lingual....seesh! Her boyfriend looked not that bad either. Yifong's blog on the other hand was tad commercialised but there were quite a number of emotional entries due to her divorce. At least these two blogs, especially Sharon's, are original.
Anyways if you are curious, here are the blogs of the local celebrities.
